Illustration

The unique aspect of illustration is that it no longer only exists in the traditional form of drawing on paper, but has evolved into a multitude of digital forms as well. My goal as a designer and artist is to be very well-rounded in a number of mediums, so I have made it my goal to experiment in both traditional and non-traditional drawing methods.

Key Lime Pie

One of my favorite traditional drawings I have done so far. This piece specifically focuses on incorporating a wide value range and variety of textures into the work. This piece also portrays ingredients of a recipe I hold close to my heart. One that reminds me of summertime and family dinners.

02

Sit and Wait

A piece that experiments with a very clear and distinctive light source. The harsh light source also acts as a method of establishing a point of emphasis. The windows and walls frame the empty chair that sits in the corner just waiting for a visitor to take a seat.

03 Cascade

Experimentation with applying a wide value range to create fabric-like textures. Through applying a wide value range to small distinct sections, one can create the illusion of folds or bends in the cascading material.

Master Copy of "Lady Helen Vincent" By John Singer Sargent

This was one of my first studies for experimenting with portraiture. "Lady Helen Vincent" by John Singer Sargent was a great portrait to observe because of the fact that it is overall quite minimalistic and doesn't focus on trying to obtain "photographic" quality. The piece is rather expressive in it's use of strokes and texture.
